Kattia Díaz

PhD Candidate - ESKAS Fellow, Land Systems and Sustainability Transformations

Kattia is a PhD candidate in Geography and Sustainable Development at the Wyss Academy for Nature, University of Bern, working with the Research and Innovation team on Land Systems and Sustainability Transformations. Her inter- and transdisciplinary research focuses on analyzing public policies to explore opportunities for fostering sustainable mining in Peru. She conducts field-based research in the Madre de Dios region, examining bottom-up policymaking processes in collaboration with formal and transitioning-to-formal artisanal and small-scale gold miners. Kattia is committed to empowering marginalized voices to shape their own progress while contributing to sustainable development for society as a whole.
