PhD Candidate, Land Systems and Sustainability Transformations
Aye-Chan Maung is a PhD Candidate in the Land Systems and Sustainability Transformation research team. He holds a Master of Environmental Management and Development from the Australian National University. His current research focuses on how global conservation policy affects Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES) and its values, as well as social equity outcomes through a case study in northern Laos. He worked for more than 9 years at the Forest Research Institute and Forest Department in Myanmar. His previous experiences includes participatory action research, valuation of ecosystem services, community forestry, biodiversity conservation, tropical forest management, and artisanal and small-scale mining.
